Spring softball registration ends April 23

The City of Kerrville Parks and Recreation Department will be accepting registrations for the Spring Men’s Open Softball League until April 23. The team fee is $425 and due upon registration. Registration is available online at www.kerrvilletx.gov and at the Parks and Recreation Department Headquarters located at Kerrville-Schreiner Park, 2385 Bandera Hwy. Softball packets, which include the by-laws and waivers, are available for pickup at the Parks and Recreation Headquarters Office and online.

Inaugural 'Super Ball' event a success

Kerrville Noon Rotary Club President Kim Clarkson, left, and member Sherri Jones announce the total amount of funds raised from the club’s recent “Super Ball Gala” held Jan. 31. The event raised $41,434.97 for community projects. Most of the funds will be used toward local scholarships and to help fund a Habitat For Humanity home.

Wreath ceremony honors veterans

A well-attended ceremony coordinated by the Civil Air Patrol was held at the Kerrville National Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13. Similar ceremonies took place at veterans cemeteries across America, each timed to coincide with one held at Arlington National Cemetery at 12 noon. Several organizations in Kerrville got involved in raising awareness of this project and, thanks to the generosity, support and efforts of many Kerrville residents, for the first time, the Kerrville National Cemetery had a full complement of fresh green wreaths for each veterans grave.  Wreaths will be out until the first of January.

KPD honors latest CPA grads

HCAF Holiday Bazaar marks 40th anniversary

This year 2014 marks the 40th Anniversary of The Hill Country Arts Foundation Auxiliary’s Annual Holiday Bazaar. In 1974 a group of crafty ladies decided to put their talents to great use in order financially support the Hill Country Arts Foundation. They instituted their annual Holiday Bazaar; it has been going strong since, and this year’s promises to be one of the best.

'Bark for Life' Oct. 18
