Mary B Hartman

Born Jan. 8, 1921 in Rocksprings, Texas, Mary B Hartman passed away peacefully at Hilltop Village in Kerrville, Saturday evening, March 30, 2019.

There will be a viewing Wednesday, April 3, 2019 from 5-7 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapels. Graveside services will be Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Garden of Memories in Kerrville, officiated by Rev. Chris Christopherson.

Mary B, a 1939 Rocksprings High School valedictorian, was 98 years old and was preceded in passing by her husband, Reuben Hartman, in 2012. Mary B and Reuben were married 69 years and met at Schreiner Institute (Schreiner University) where they were students and married June 20, 1943. Both Mary B and Reuben were members of First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville.

During WWII, Mary B worked for the Civil Service and later returned to work for The VA Hospital in Kerrville where she was secretary to the Chief of Staff. She enjoyed playing bridge and was a member of several bridge clubs. She and her husband, Reuben, spent their later years traveling and visiting various places in their motor home.

Mary B is survived by her daughter, MaryAnne Hartman of Austin; son, Robert Hartman and wife, Jennifer Hartman of Kerrville; her brother, Lt. Col. James Lockley and wife, Nellie; nieces, Linda Lockley of San Antonio and Carol Lockley of Austin; nephew, Jim Lockley of Richardson, Texas; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
