Hawks earn spot in state tournament

AUSTIN — Our Lady of the Hills senior Travis Reeh ripped the nets for 38 points, and the Hawks beat Spring Providence 72-55 Saturday to advance to the TAPPS Class 3A state basketball tournament for a third consecutive year.

Hunter Taylor scored 13 points for OLH and pulled down six rebounds, and Joaquin Vasquez added 10 points and six boards. Cole Lutz finished with seven points and six rebounds and Will Westfall rounded out scoring with four points.

Westfall also contributed six assists and three steels on the day. Reeh nabbed  three steals defensively.

OLH (24-9) will face its district counterpart, San Antonio Castle Hills, on Thursday, Feb.28 at 4 p.m. at Waco University High School.

The TAPPS championship game will be Friday, March 1 at 1 p.m. at West High School. OLH defeated Castle Hills both times this season.
