The Class 5A second round softball playoff series between Tivy and Uvalde is locked at one win each, and each has its victory at the other's home field after the Lobos won 10-5 in Kerrville on Tuesday night at Lady Antler Field.

"It's really surprising that we lost here at home. We hadn't lost at home all season," said Tivy head coach Jeremy Hickman.

Uvalde, which lost 7-4 to 26-5A champion Tivy on Tuesday at the Lobos' lair, took full advantage early to build its lead before withstanding a mild Tivy rally late in the game.

"We beat them at their place playing really good ball, and tonight we didn't play well. This was not the usual defensive game we are capable of playing. We didn't seem to be focused, and we have to be focused if we intend to win this series," Hickman said.

After taking a 2-0 lead in the first inning, Uvalde put four more runs on the board in the second on the strength of three singles and a pair of doubles to lead 6-0.

Four more hits came in the third, and equated to a 9-0 lead for the Lobos team, but the Lady Antlers looked like they had a rally in place in the bottom of the third inning when they loaded the bases with only one out with a walk to Medina, and back to back singles from Alyssa Hickman, and Hannah Delgado, but their were not able to capitalize.

The Lady Antlers held Uvalde scoreless in the fourth inning and pieced together three runs on their at-bat to get on the board, trailing 9-3.

Lexi Perez led off the inning with a home run. Amber Pintsch doubled, moved to third when Lexi Callcott hit into a fielder's choice, then went home via a wild pitch. Medina got on with a walk and scored after another wild pitch.

Uvalde's final run came in the fifth when a leadoff walk was converted to a score off a long single.

The sixth was kinder to the Lady Antlers with a pair of runs that gave Tivy fans some hope for late heroics.

Pintsch led off with a single, Callcott walked to put runners at first and second. Medina doubled in PIntsch and Callcott came home when Delgado ripped a hard grounder at short.

Grona wound up with three of Tivy's 10 hits. Pintsch had two hits on the night.

The teams will meet in game three at 5 p.m. in Devine to decide who advances to the third round of the playoffs.
