Fire proves fatal in local RV park

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the identification of the male victim will be determined by an autopsy.

The identity of a man who perished in a fire over the weekend will require results of an autopsy, according to Kerrville Fire Marshal Chris Lee.

Lee said the Kerrville Fire Department was dispatched to an RV park, located in the 2400 block of Junction Highway at 12:58 a.m. Friday, April 22, where an RV was reportedly fully engulfed in flames.

“While enroute, dispatch reported that there was a high probability that there was an occupant in the motor home,” Lee said.

According to Lee, KFD Engine 2 was the first on the scene of the fire. The motor home was disconnected from power outlets and firefighters immediately began to douse the motor home with water.

The unnamed, male victim was discovered after the fire was extinguished, Lee said. Two adjacent motor homes were damaged from the heat of the fire, Lee said.

Lee is investigating the cause of the fire on behalf of KFD.

Upon completion of the autopsy, notification to family and the investigation into the cause, Lee said more information will be released
